Cedar Hill Recognizes Tourism’s Growing $71 Million Economic Impact with Tourism Month Proclamation

Cedar Hill’s growing reputation as a destination for outdoor adventure, community experiences, and quality of life is continuing to generate meaningful impact across the city, bringing new visitors to local businesses, supporting jobs, and contributing millions to the local economy.

Building on the momentum of National Travel and Tourism Week, an annual nationwide celebration held each May recognizing the importance of tourism and travel, the Cedar Hill City Council formally proclaimed May as Tourism Month in Cedar Hill during the May 12th City Council Meeting. The proclamation joins communities across the country in highlighting tourism’s role in strengthening local economies and enhancing community vitality.

According to recent tourism impact data from Dean Runyan Associates, visitors spent $71.3 million in Cedar Hill, supporting 470 local jobs and generating $26.8 million in earnings tied to tourism related industries throughout the city.

Tourism also generated more than $11.6 million in combined local and state tax revenue, including $5.47 million in local tax revenue that helps support essential city services, infrastructure, parks, public safety, and community investments.

“Tourism is more than attracting visitors; it’s about creating experiences that strengthen community pride, support local businesses, and showcase what makes Cedar Hill unique,” said Michelle Ebanks, Destination Manager. “As Cedar Hill continues growing as a destination, we’re proud to see tourism contributing to both our local economy and overall quality of life.”

As more travelers seek destinations centered around recreation, wellness, nature, and connection, Cedar Hill continues standing out as a place offering something different within the DFW Metroplex.

From the signature shopping and dining experiences found throughout Historic Downtown and Hillside Village to The Great Greenway’s 36 miles of trails and expansive outdoor experiences, Cedar Hill continues attracting visitors looking to experience a community where nature and city life intersect in a unique way.

As Cedar Hill continues to grow, tourism is helping shape a community that residents are proud to call home while creating lasting benefits for local businesses, community spaces, and visitor experiences that keep people returning.
