Last week during the annual State of the City address, the City of Cedar Hill embraced that reality by unveiling a new tagline that reflects both who it is and where it is headed: “The Natural Heart of the Metroplex,” showcasing growth and direction of South Dallas as a whole.
After more than a decade under the tagline “Where Opportunities Grow Naturally,” Cedar Hill is stepping confidently into its next chapter with a brand that aligns its natural assets, engaged community, and long-term growth strategy under one clear identity.
Cedar Hill is widely recognized across North Texas for its natural beauty. The city boasts the highest elevation between the Red River and Gulf of Mexico, is home to Cedar Hill State Park, one of the most visited state parks in Texas, and has an astounding 52 parks and trails woven throughout the community. A longstanding city ordinance requires that at least 25% of all land remain preserved as open space, ensuring thoughtful development that protects the landscape while allowing for growth.
That commitment has fueled the emergence of The Great Greenway, an up-and-coming regional district encompassing 7 partner parks and more than 1,000 acres of outdoor experiences. From hiking and biking to birding, camping, and watersports, The Great Greenway is positioning Cedar Hill as a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts across the DFW metroplex. Originally developed as this district’s tagline, “The Natural Heart of the Metroplex” ultimately proved to capture the spirit of the entire city.
The decision to adopt this new tagline reflects a deliberate alignment between Cedar Hill’s identity and its economic vision. By centering its brand on “natural,” the city is signaling the type of growth it intends to attract. Residents have consistently asked for more natural grocers, healthier dining options, and eco-friendly businesses. The tagline also elevates tourism by aligning the City’s overall brand with The Great Greenway and ensures that the region clearly associates Cedar Hill with its natural beauty.
At the same time, the phrase carries a powerful double meaning. It reflects Cedar Hill’s scenic landscape, while also representing the engaged and welcoming community at its core.
