Loop 9 Connection Brings Major Transportation Investment to Cedar Hill

Major improvements at US 67 and Lake Ridge Parkway are setting the stage for stronger regional connectivity and new economic opportunities across southern DFW.

A long-anticipated transportation investment is officially taking shape in Cedar Hill as the Texas Department of Transportation begins improvements at US 67 and Lake Ridge Parkway, a key connection point for the future Loop 9 corridor.

The project is part of a larger transportation network designed to create stronger connections across southern Dallas-Fort Worth, linking communities, major highways, employment centers, businesses, and future development opportunities.

Construction at US 67 and Lake Ridge Parkway is expected to take approximately three years and includes a new grade-separated interchange at Lake Ridge Parkway, reconstruction of portions of the US 67 main lanes and frontage roads, and related roadway improvements. The project area generally extends from north of Shiloh Road to south of Mount Lebanon Road.

For Cedar Hill and the surrounding region, the bigger story is what that infrastructure can unlock.

Loop 9 is planned as a new east to west transportation corridor beginning at US 67 near Cedar Hill and ultimately extending east to I 20. Segment A, the westernmost section of the corridor, is planned to extend approximately 9.4 miles from US 67 to I 35E through Dallas and Ellis counties.

Together, those connections would give Cedar Hill greater access to more of the region’s most important transportation corridors and strengthen the city’s connection to communities and economic activity across the southern DFW region.

Transportation access is a major factor in where businesses choose to invest. Strong highway connections can expand access to workforce, customers, suppliers, visitors, and development sites while making it easier to move people and goods throughout the region.

With US 67 already serving as a major north to south route through Cedar Hill, Loop 9 would introduce an important new east to west connection. The result is a more connected Cedar Hill with direct access into a broader regional transportation network.

The timing is especially significant as growth continues across southern Dallas County and northern Ellis County. As communities throughout this part of DFW add residents, businesses, destinations, and new development, regional infrastructure will play an increasingly important role in connecting that growth.

Cedar Hill sits in a unique position within that network.

The city is located within both Dallas County and Ellis County, shares a border with the City of Dallas, has established commercial corridors, offers available development opportunities, and a growing mix of retail, entertainment, outdoor recreation, and employment destinations. Improved regional connectivity adds another piece to that value proposition for businesses and investors looking at the southern DFW market.

The US 67 and Lake Ridge Parkway improvements also create an opportunity to think beyond where Cedar Hill connects today and toward where the region is headed next.

As Loop 9 progresses, Cedar Hill will be positioned near the western gateway of a corridor designed to improve movement across southern DFW and connect US 67 with I-35E and, ultimately, I-20.

The infrastructure being built today is helping create the connections that can shape Cedar Hill’s economy for decades to come.
